Notes on Kegs:  Smiley's cannot refund any money on unused beer.  If you feel there is a problem with the keg or the beer in the keg, we will send it back to the company and they will determine if the problem is with equipment or if the beer is spoiled.  (In 18 years, I have only seen this happen maybe 5 times.)  We cannot guarantee the taps because there is no way we can test them before you take them.  If you are traveling or live a distance away, we suggest that you either rent 2 taps or that you tap the keg before leaving the parking lot.  The tap should work immediately.  If there is a problem we will try to help as much as possible but if you are far away it is out of our hands. 

We no longer have CO2 systems however if you need one please let us know as far in advance as possible.  I can usually get them through a distributor.  The rental fee is $10.00 and the deposit is $200.00.  We do not give instructions how how to operate the CO2 system.  We do however have an instruction sheet available to you. 

Note On CO2 systems:  Unless it is a formal affair or you have multiple kegs we would suggest that you NOT use a CO2 System.  They can actually warm the beer up and they are at times difficult to operate.  If you still decide that you want a CO2 System I would suggest that you read up on how to operate them or make sure that someone at the affair is familiar with how to operate one.

We do have 1 Guinness CO2 system available.  All of the above applies to this system as well.

Beer Keg Volume & Weight

Number Of Glass Of Beer In A Barrel

All quantities are for 1/4 kegs-numbers in ( ) are for 1/2 kegs.  Actual number of glasses will vary with the shape of the glasses.

HOW TO ORDER KEGS

1.  Know the number of people you need to serve.

2.  Have an idea of how many glasses of beer needed per person.  Below are some tips to help you.

        A.)  If this is a casual affair where not everyone will be drinking beer and you are offering other beverages, figure 3 12 oz. glasses of beer per person.  This will allow those who enjoy their beer to have more than the 3 12 oz. glasses.

        B.)  If this is an all out affair where everyone is expected to have a good time you will need to figure 6 or more 12 oz. beers per person.

3.  Choose the type or types of beer you would like to serve.  If you are serving Imported or Micro beer, please have 2 choices.  Sometimes Imports and Micros are hard to get.

4.  Call Smiley's at 742-8620 or drop us an e-mail at lyn@smileysdover.com to reserve your kegs.

5.  Try to give us a week or more notice so that in the event there are any problems, we can solve them before you arrive to pick up your keg.

6.  On the day of pick-up please allow ample time to fill out the paperwork.  Please bring your license or Non-Drivers ID.  To save time, you can come in before the day you need your kegs and do all of the paperwork and pay for the kegs.  This will allow you on the day of pick-up to just have us affix the Registration Sticker to the Keg.

7.  The money that you will need is the money for the beer, $30.00 deposit per barrel and $40.00 per tap.  You can leave the deposit in Cash, Credit Card or Check.  If you use a Credit Card we will credit the card that was USED on the day of pick-up the amount for the equipment.  If you leave a check, the check MUST be for the amount of Deposit ONLY.  We will give you back your check when you return your items.  If you leave CASH you must have the yellow slip with you or show us your license.

8.  We try for insurance purposes to not put the kegs in vehicles.  A 1/2 Keg of beer weighs 170 lbs & a 1/4 Keg weighs 85 lbs. We would like to suggest you have someone that can handle loading a keg alone come or have help come with them.  As many of our customers know that if necessary we will assist you if needed. 

9.  You have 2 weeks to return all items.  After 2 weeks you will need to speak with a manager or myself to receive ANY of your money back.  If you are unable to return the items within 2 weeks, just give us a call and we will hold your deposit longer. 

10.  Effective 1/1/2010 if you place the deposit on a Credit Card there will be a 3% Handling Fee.  On a $30 or $40 Deposit the Charge will be $1.00.  On a $70 Deposit the Fee will be $2.00.  The Credit Card companies have forced our hand in this.  Prior to this when we credited your Credit Card Back we would receive the entire amount back plus the fee we are charged.  Now with the new Credit Card laws in effect they will no longer credit the fee back to us.  When the Kegs and Taps come in we are charged $30 per keg and $40 per tap so there is no up-charge on these items.  Thank you in advance for your understanding.

CO 2 CUSTOMERS

If you have a CO2 System at your home, we have a program for you.  It is called the "Preferred" Customer program.  No you DO NOT receive any Kegs FREE after purchasing so many.  The following is how the program works.

1.  We will take down all of your information and place it on a card that is kept in the store.  We will make a note on the card if you paid a deposit or exchanged your first keg from us.

2.  You will receive $2.00 off every keg purchase.  I know that doesn't sound like much but it adds up in the end.

3.  You will be informed of any "specials" before we offer them to people off the street.  Sometimes these specials are really good specials.  They are usually on Micros or Imported Kegs.

4.  We will get to know you, the kind of beer you like and how often you order.  If it's around a Holiday we may even call you to see if you need a keg.

5.  The check out is very fast.  If it's a 1/2 or 1/4 keg we have to fill out a sticker but that's all.  You will be in and out within 5 minutes.

Other Information for CO2 Customers:  We have full tanks in stock most times.  Call ahead of time to make sure.  We try to have them filled however sometimes the company we use is out of tanks.  All you have to do is Exchange your empty tank for a full tank and $20.  We are trying to find a less expensive supplier.

If you need any parts for your system please let us know.  We have multiple sources for CO equipment and usually the price is very right!

If you are looking to purchase a CO2 system talk to us!  We have a very inexpensive source that we use.  In fact you can make a CO2 system yourself.  All you would need is a refrigerator.  It can be full size or it can be a campus size.  Bear in mind the "clearance" you will need for you tap and CO2 tank.  We have all of the measurements that you will need to make your own system.  Once again if you have any questions please e-mail me at lyn@smileysdover.com
